A Home's Infrastructure - Not As Visible as the Roof, But Just As Important

Let's talk about home foundations for a minute. A house's foundation is generally constructed in three basic ways:

• Concrete slab
• Crawlspace
• Basement

If a house has been constructed within the last 20 years, we foresee no particular problems with either a slab foundation or a basement.

• A basement is expected in higher priced homes ($250's and up) in the northern Metropolitan Indianapolis / Hamilton County area.
   
• Additional considerations might have to be made for older homes, where slab technology was not as good.
